Much Ado About Nothing is one of William Shakespeare's comedies. The production at the Lyceum Theatre was produced and directed by Henry Irving, who played Benedick, and the cast also included Ellen Terry as Beatrice and Johnston Forbes-Robertson as Claudio.

Print of a scene from a production of Much Ado About Nothing, at the Lyceum Theatre, October 1882. The print is taken from The Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News, November 4th, 1882. On the left is Ellen Terry as Beatrice, standing in profile in a light coloured dress with a long dark jacket. She is holding a feathered fan in her right hand and is pointing towards Irving with her left hand. She has short, curled hair to her neck and is wearing three jewelled necklaces. To the right is Henry Irving as Benedick. He is wearing a large cloak covering most of his body, he is also wearing a buttoned shirt and and a feathered hat, and holding a book in his right hand. Behind them is a chair, and a curtained doorway and elaborately painted or carved walls.
