David Tremlett (born 1945, St Austell, Cornwall) is best known for his wall drawings, most of which are temporary, and for conceptual works which are fragile and unconventional. He has also made large drawings on paper, expressing his response to a particular place or to something he has seen. Tremlett is internationally renowned, and was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 1992.

This print (from an edition of 100) was published by the Serpentine Gallery on the occasion of Tremlett's one-man show there in 1989. The truncated image of the central letters from the word 'Abyssinia' demonstrates a use of word as image that is characteristic of conceptual art.
