Object history | Circular table, gift of the Duke of Buccleuch 5 July 1918 R.P. 18/2096 List of 10 gifts As "(5) Circular table with tripod stand" 5/7/18 Handwritten notes (by CS - Cecil Smith?) describe the condition of (5) "Bush block missing" 10/7/18 Letter Smith to the Duke notes that "our skilled repairers" will be able to restore the pieces but it will "occupy a considerable time". Note from 1953: 'It is considered, from an examination of this table made on 28th April 1953 by Art Work Room (Mr. Beecher) that the wood of this table is neither pear wood not cherry wood (as Apollo, vol XVII, 1933, p 235, where the table is illustrated by R.W. Symonds), but a trans atlantic cedar of a pencil cedar kind'. |
