This drawing is constructed from various layers. A 'found' sheet of lined paper with handwriting is first laid on a backing sheet; some words are obscured. Over this is laid a sheet of greased paper, like translucent skin. On this uppermost surface the artist has drawn intricate forms, recalling needles or seed pods.

Physical description

Drawing composed of three sheets: a rough, buff-coloured backing sheet, overlaid with a sheet of ruled paper with handwriting, overlaid with a slightly smaller sheet of yellowish semi-transparent oiled paper. The ruled paper has several holes cut into it, revealing areas of the backing sheet. There are designs in pencil and ink on the oiled paper.
