Rotherfield Street, Autumn

Drawing
2005 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

London topography has long been a central subject for Sharon Beavan. This precisely observed drawing of a street corner in Islington is drawn entirely in outline. This gives a subtly disorientating quality to the composition: the trees become amorphous blank areas, and the uniform pressure of the pencil makes background and foreground hard to distinguish.
