An oil painted copy of a 13th century Buddhist fresco depicting the Maitribala Jataka. To the right an attendant brings food in a bowl suspended from a shoulder yoke which is rejected by a club bearing Yaksha. In the centre the Bodhisattva who holds a sword offers his own blood to the Yaksha while on the left another Yaksha holds an umbrella over the Bodhisattva. The colours used are shades of red, green and yellow.
