A Mountain Landscape

Oil Painting
ca. 1950-ca. 1970 (painted)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This miniature acrylic painting is a landscape of trees and mountains. The treatment of paint is loose and painterly and the palette is quite limited to yellows and greens with some complementary blues and purples fro the shadows and the mountains. It is part of the furnishings of a dolls' house known as No.3 Devonshire Villas, which was modelled on a real house in Kilburn, London, however the real house no longer exists. The actual dolls' house was made around 1900-05, however this painting, which is executed in acrylic paint would have been added later by its then owner, probably from the 1950s when acrylic paints began to be commercially used.
