Display 'Into the Woods: Trees in Illustration'; Gallery 102; June 2017 to the end of January 2018 Edmund Dulac (1882-1953) Original illustration to 'The Snow Queen' from 'Stories from Hans Christian Andersen' 1911 The illustrations for Andersen's collection of fairly tales are some of the most memorable produced by Dulac. Using his rich, trademark blue the artist has created an atmospheric, nocturnal scene which serves to emphasize the ethereal, horse-drawn carriage highlighted in gold, which is speeding through the woods.
