Script: Rotunda, in Latin.
Decoration: 13 large miniatures, mostly with full-page borders, in the Neapolitan style composed of white interlace pattern on red, green and blue grounds with putti, animals, parrots, floral scrolls, gold leaves, etc; 14 smaller miniatures in roundels in the borders; 21 historiated initials with partial borders; coat of arms.
1 leaf missing between leaves now foliated 77 and 78; 1 initial also missing.
Binding: not contemporary, some components 19th century. Purple velvet, decorated on the upper cover with silver gilt bosses inlaid with enamelled shields bearing Alfonso of Aragon's arms; 4 velvet clasps.

Object history
Written in Naples; miniatures attributed to Matteo Felice. Made for Galeazzo di Sanseverino.
Owned by Alfonso of Aragon (1448-1495), Duke of Calabria from 1458 and king of Naples in 1494-5; his coat of arms on f. 14r. Frédéric Spitzer (1815-1890)(sold 1892); George Salting, his bequest to the Museum in 1910.
