Painted from the back of the dress circle looking towards the stage, view framed by two supporting pillars and the fringed edge to the balcony top. Light rays from either side directed at stage, batten of seven lights hanging in front of the proscenium arch. On stage right a column and base, interdeterminate urban scene framed by quantities of dark red drapery. Overall pinkish tonality.
