Place of origin |
These prints were intended for sticking onto screens. Sticking prints onto pieces of furniture or small items of woodwork such as boxes is a quick and easy way of decorating them. Examples of furniture or woodwork decorated in this way rarely survive from the beginning of the nineteenth century, perhaps because their relative modesty has not made them worth preserving or because they have fallen into poor condition.
This print is divided horizontally into two scenes in each of which are two figures holding up a print. The upper scene depicts a tea party and the lower one, a card party.
