Historical context | An incident in the Second Afghan War. Cavagnari, appointed British Resident in Kabul on 24 July 1879, was murdered in the Bala Hissar in a mutiny by Afghan regiments on 3 September 1879. General Sir Frederick Roberts arrived to take charge in Kabul in October l879. The drawing appears to have been submitted for publication. |
