Object history
This corner cupboard, and W.50-1960, were said to have been painted by Mrs Alfred Waterhouse by the artist, writer and critic, Roger Fry in 1930. He and his sisters offered them as a bequest to the Museum when they were disposing of the contents of their parents' house, Failand House, near Bristol. Fry's mother, Mariabella, and Alfred Waterhouse's wife, Elizabeth were sisters. The cupboards subsequently passed into the possession of Michael Waterhouse, grandson of Alfred and Elizabeth, who gave them to the Museum in 1959.

In 1968 this cabinet was exhibited in Gallery 118.

Formerly on loan to the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery, Bedford (1978-2007).
