Seating Unit

Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Seating unit made up in six layers of foam built up on top of a rectangular wooden base, all upholstered in green leather and all approximately 6 inches high; on top of the base is the first layer of upholstered foam which has curved corners and covers most of the rectangular base area except for a small square recess at its front left corner - this recess provides a footrest space; the next layer is the same shape as the first but the recess is slightly larger; the third layer has a much larger scooped recess which extends three-quarters of the way across to the right side of the seating unit and half way back - this creates the main seating area on the unit; the three final layers are built up one on top of the other following the scooped section of the third layer and extending three-quarters of the way along the back edge and the whole way along the left edge of the third layer thereby providing the seat back; the bottom of these three layers is the largest with the other two each a little smaller than the one beneath which gives the seat back a gentle slope backwards.
