Panel painted in oils on oak, surrounded by a moulded framework of pine. It represents St. Mathew seated on the right below a tree and writing in a book at the description of an angel. On the left is a 'Jesse Tree' with prophets and kings on the branches, at the foot Eve offering Adam the apple, the serpent being coiled around the tree.
