Artist/Maker
Place of origin

The Italian firm Max Mara, founded in 1951, are internationally renowned for their minimalist, pared-down coats and outerwear made in luxury fabrics to a high specification. This coat come from Max Mara's Autumn-Winter 2015 collection. The look comprises a classic camel-hair wrap coat with sash belt and a separate sleeveless lining in quilted silk with a deep band of mink fur around the hem. The lining was worn underneath so that the mink fur hung below the coat hem. While Max Mara have produced a number of similar style camel coats, including a near-identical (albeit shorter) model retailed by Harrods, this double-layered look was uniquely styled for the Max Mara catwalk show. Photographs of the model wearing the coat and lining were published in a number of leading fashion magazines including British Vogue, Grazia Italia, and W .

Object history
This coat was styled for the Max Mara catwalk so the lining shows apparent signs of being from a separate outfit with male snaps around the neckline suggesting that a collar or second garment is missing. However, the stylist for Max Mara put this coat and lining together for the catwalk show, so it represents the vision of the design house.
