It features a three quarter length portrait of Farren whose gaze is directed towards the viewer. She is leaning slightly forwards, her left elbow resting on a thick rail, and with a fixed, oval fan held in her right hand. She is wearing a dark hat with a wide upright brim, a crossover bodice with wide, short sleeves and dark shorts.
