Designer thermals The Japanese company Uniqlo launched Heat-tech in 2003. The fabric retains body heat and generates warmth from the movement of tiny droplets of moisture captured in its fibres. An anti-bacterial agent in the fabric reduces body odours. From 2010 the company worked with the Irish textile designer Orla Kiely to produce several collections of garments featuring her classic prints.
