Post-surgery care Following breast surgery some women choose to wear a pocketed mastectomy bra with a prosthesis. The first patent for a breast prosthesis was registred in 1918 by a Canadian nurse, Laura Ethel Mailleue. This bra is one of a range designed by Nicola Jane, specialists in mastectomy fashions since 1984.
