Photographic portrait of the actress Lydia Thompson (1838-1908) as Abdallah in The Forty Thieves at the Lyceum Theatre, taken by Camille Silvy, London, ca.1860s. It features a full length portrait of Thompson who is wearing a short dress with a full skirt under a short dark bolero and a round cap with a tall point at the centre of the crown. She is positioned in front of a backdrop which depicts a rocky mountain range and is standing with her right leg slightly raised, her foot, resting on a rock. Her gaze is directed towards the viewer and her left hand is resting on her hip.
