It features a full length portrait of Thompson who is wearing a short dress with a full skirt under a short dark bolero and a round cap with a tall point at the centre of the crown. She is shown seated on a dark rock, her gaze is directed towards the viewer, her right hand is on her hip and her left elbow is resting on her left knee.
