Object history | Given by Christopher Heal who told the museum that he designed it as part of an extensive series of 'Utility' furniture designed between 1949 and 1950. the range first appeared in Heal and Son's stockbooks of bedroom furniture in 1952 under the serial number 5049. These books are now in the Heals Archive which was deposited in the V&A library. Mr. Heal wrote and offered this piece to the museum along with two companion items from his own home, all of which were accepted. A dining table from the same range is also in the museum's collection. |
