Dolgelly chalice

The original, English, 13th century, in silver-gilt, along with its paten, were found near Dolgelly in 1890 and are the property of the Crown. The chalice has a shallow bowl, circular foot repoussé with trefoil lobes and engraved with foliage, and ribbed knop with an engraved border of foliage above and below.

Object history
This copy f the chalice (along with its accompanying paten, M.1911-2A) was commissioned by the V&A from Elkington and Co as part of the Museum's electrotype collection. Two copies of the chalice were suppied and five copies of the paten. The cost for each set was £7 10s.
