Photograph
1984 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Chris Killip began his career in photography in the early 1960s in London. He is best known, however, for his images of the North-East of Britain, where this photograph, included in the publication In Flagrante, was taken. His In Flagrante photographs explore post-industrial society of the late 1970s. At times gritty portraits of those individuals particularly affected by economic downturn, Killip's photographs are some of the most important realist images of the era.
