Physical description
Costume design by James Wade for 'Soldier, Courtier' in Act I of a production of Princess Ida, at the Savoy Theatre, 1954. The design is executed in watercolour and pencil and features a study of two boots. The boots fit closely to the leg and have a black ground decorated with deep crimson flame shaped motifs extending up and over the knee.
