Object history
This fabric design reflects the influence of Lucienne Day's pioneering textile pattern entitled 'Calyx'. Shaw has incorporated a series of starbursts into this design, entitled 'Homecraft'. It was advertised in 'House & Garden' (February 1955) and similar designs by Vivien Shaw were marketed in the October 1955 issue of the same magazine as 'the latest ideas in modern design and colour'.
Bibliographic reference
This design was acquired along with four other designs by Shaw for Grafton, all featuring floral, leaf and geometric designs in a variety of bold colourways.
