Object history
Designed by Frank Troup, the architect of the Art Worker's Guild building, and embroidered by his sister Winifred Louisa Troup. They were both associated with the Arts and Crafts Movement.. This scarf and another (T.336-1998) were part of a group of thirteen that Winifred embroidered for her nieces. Each scarf had relevant motifs customised specifically for each niece, and the highly coloured silk embroidery on black tulle was influenced by her mother's Spanish shawl.
