Victoria and Albert Museum, acc. no. IS5473 (neg. no. 37070). 12 ft 8 in (386.2cm) x 9ft 5 1/2in (288.4cm). Colours: 2 reds, violet, brown, 2 blues, yellow and black. Outlines black and red. Overpainting for green. In the centre, a small clump of bamboos with feathery foliage, and on each side a slender flowering tree, all growing on a formal, scale-like hillock. The border is filled with a formal garland, and around the outer edge is a narrow blue band. The yarn is machine-spun, and the fabric woven on a power-loom. The piece was acquired at the same time as cat. nos. 55 and 56 and may have been commissioned in the same circumstances.
