Oz

Serial
May 1967 (published)
Place of origin

Oz magazine was founded in Australia by Richard Neville and his fellow students Richard Walsh and Martin Sharp in 1963. In 1967 Neville and Sharp came to the UK and launched 'London Oz', of which this is an issue. Sharp was a gifted artist and his work with the graphic designer Jon Goodchild made Oz one of the most visually dazzling Psychedelic publications of its time. The magazine's content came from many prominent 'Counterculture' contributors and guest editors such Germaine Greer, Barney Bubbles and Robert Crumb. A lack of readership eventually forced it to fold in 1973.
