This sleeveless, knee-length dress with side slits at the hem is known as a 'cheongsam' in Cantonese or a 'qipao' in Mandarin. It is made from a plain-weave silk/synthetic fabric (?) with printed coin motif in mauve, green and yellow.

The dress has a stand-up, stiffened collar closed with a metal hook and eye, six metal snap fasteners across the collarbone to the right side, and a zip-fastener in the side seam.
