This over-dress or Tangtsag, was worn over a brocade chuba by noblewomen in Tibet for important celebrations or one’s own wedding. Such garments were always used when the full set of seven types of traditional jewellery were worn on such special occasions.

Physical description | An overdress consisting of several vertical bands of woven and dyed wool stitched together. The bands are horizontal and of dark red, brown and blue colour interspersed with lighter beige stripes. Each shoulder is edged with a band of geometrically patterned purple brocade. The garment has a simple front opening with each lapel doubling back on the opening.hh |
