Auctioned in 1836 after William Godwin’s death in 1836, as part of the sale of his library; purchased by Dawson Turner (1775-1858), who had the manuscript bound in three volumes as it is now. Collection of John Forster (1812-1876): part of the Forster bequest in 1876.
