The photograph features a scene in which Quartermaine (Brown) is positioned in the foreground, his gaze directed towards Compton (Phoebe Throssel) and Jerold (Susan Throssel). He is shown from behind, in three quarter profile and is standing with his right arm outstretched. Compton is returning his gaze, her left arm is upraised, whilst her right arm encirles the shoulders of Jerrold, who is standing beside her.
