This is one of the ‘IN-EI’ range of lights developed by Issey Miyake’s Reality Lab. The range was created in collaboration with the Italian manufacturer Artemide. The light consists of a single, folded sheet of non-woven fabric made from recycled plastic bottles, and is strong enough to support itself without a frame. The name ‘IN-EI’ refers to a celebrated essay about Japanese aesthetics, In Praise of Shadows, written by Tanizaki Jun’ichirō in 1933.
