Silver double-braided wire-chain belt, getha, with six bands decorated with applied floral elements. The large chamfered hollow cube in the centre has a vertical screw fastener with a decorated finial mirrored on the underside. The screw is slotted through a U-shaped link connected to one of the two adjacent units that are attached to the flexible chains with ring hinges and a decorative knobbed bolt on the left hand side, with that one the right hand side having been substituted with a plain copper bolt.

Object history
This belt is part of the large donation of Indian folk jewellery from Dr Waltraud Ganguly which was collected over the last few decades before her death in 2015 from dealers in both India and Europe, in parallel with extensive fieldwork she carried out in the Indian Sub-Continent. It was puchased from Amrapali in February 2012 for 742 Euros.
