The Hungarian photographer Brassaï moved to Paris in 1924. Roaming the city’s streets by night, he produced dramatic images of its nocturnal landscapes and the people that populated them. As well as scenes of bars and brothels, Brassaï photographed high society events, like the Longchamp horse races. Here, exploding fireworks light up the sky and illuminate the silhouette of a man fashionably attired in a top hat.(May 2023)
