Object history | This is an exhibition catalogue forged by or for John Drewe to authenticate forged works of art he was selling with a false provenance. The original catalogue was removed by Drewe from a volume of Hanover Gallery exhibition catalogues in the National Art Library and replaced by this forgery. Drewe and his accomplice John Myatt were convicted of conspiracy to defraud at Southwark Crown Court in February 1999. Title of original catalogue: Paintings by Vuillard, Courbet, Utrillo, Soutine, De Vlaminck, Dufy, Gris, Braque, Masson, Miró, Sutherland, Giacometti, Bacon, Freud, Adler, Richards and Bombois : July 4-August 11 |
