Rimzim Dadu is one of a young generation of designers who is experimenting and innovating with materials, techniques and textures. She appreciates the heritage of Indian textile techniques which she chooses to reference in innovative ways rather than directly incorporate into her garments. She is known for using labour intensive hand-skills to create interesting surface decoration and her aesthetic is very distinct. This blouse has simple detailing using the same detailed leather applique technique used in the skirt acquired with this piece, IS. 11-2015.

  • IMITATING IKAT Rimzim Dadu creates intricate surfaces by using labour-intensive hand-skills. In this skirt, fine leather cord of different colours is painstakingly assembled and indiviudally stitched to the backing fabric to imitate a classic patola ikat weave. She appreciates the heritage of Indian textile techniques which she chooses to refer to in innovative ways rather than directly incoporate into her garments.
