Object history note

This textile was acquired by the Museum at a Sotheby & Co. auction on 30th April 1926. It was in a lot recorded as 'The Property of Major Goodall, Dinton Hall, near Aylesbury. (Sold with the approval of the Court)'.
The catalogue entry was as follows:
'52 AN EARLY 17TH CENTURY STRIP, finely worked on linen, in silks and gold thread, with a pattern, within spirals, or animals, birds, insects, and plants, 8ft. 6in. by 1ft. 7in., unfinished'
