Arora is India's most renowned fashion designer and has many accolades to his name ranging from fashion spreads in international magazines (including Vogue, Elle, and Harpers) to collaborating with renowned brands, from Swarvoski to Swatch, and Reebok to Amrapli. Arora sells his creations worldwide, across prestigious stores such as Galleries Lafayette, Joyce and Beams. His rich and colourful designs have gained much celebratory attention and have been worn by international stars from Rihanna and Lady Gaga to M.I.A and Katy Perry.

Born in Mumbai in 1972, Manish Arora took a departure from his early education in Commerce and retrained at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi. After graduating in 1994, he introduced the world to his design aesthetic, with the launch of his fashion label in 1997. Growing from strength to strength, Arora gained a devoted following in the fashion world, exhibiting for the first time at London fashion week in 2005, debuting at Paris Fashion week in 2007 and in the same year became a member of the distinguished French Federation of Pret-a-Porter. As former Creative Director for fashion house Paco Rabanne, Arora designed two successful collections in 2011, before moving on to create the joint venture label "Indian by Manish Arora", collaborating with India's Women's Ethic Wear Retail brand BIBA. The opening of a flagship store in 2014 is testament to the brand's success.

Arora is known for his astute craftsmanship and unique play on colours, his designs are inspired by his Indian heritage but with a contemporary twist and an international outlook.

This skirt and top ensemble is typical of his work. The upper skirt is made from silk with gold applique, crystal beads, pearls and sequin and top is made from jersey, with iridescent strips, metals and pearls. Arora rethinks traditional Indian embroidery, applique and beading by enlarging it or applying it with a breath-taking level of detail to create clothes that celebrate hand-making skills. The detail of the skirt shows Arora's penchant for strong patterns, bold textures and his trademark palette of pink and gold. The garments are part of Arora's Spring Summer Collection of 2015 and were selected for display in the Fabric of India exhibition (October 3 2015-10th January 2016).
