This is a ritual mirror used by oracles in trance to see the future. This type of mirror was strapped to the oracle's chest. Its central syllable 'Hrih' magically summons the wrathful protective deity Hayagriva, who is able to control the main deity Pehar, who is channelled through the oracle.

Physical description
A ritual mirror of convex form set within a circular frame of gilt brass. The outer frame bears a "Face of Glory" and the "Eight Auspicious Emblems" of Buddhism. The syllable Hrih is set at the centre of the silver inner section.
