Chance and Control: Art in the Age of Computers (2018) COLETTE (born 1934) AND CHARLES ‘JEFF’ (born 1938) BANGERT GRASS SERIES II USA, 1980 Colette Bangert trained as an artist, and her husband Jeff worked at Kansas University’s Computer Center. The landscape of the American Midwest plays a central role in their art practice. For this series, they devised a program to imitate the growth and movement of grass. Colette saw computers as the perfect tool because ‘Grass is…random and random is a natural computer facility. Computer grass is natural grass.’ Plotter drawing Given by the artists Museum no.
