This Sindy doll dressed in an outfit designed by Vivienne Westwood was produced to celebrate Sindy’s 30th birthday in October 1991. At the time she was owned by Hasbro, who arranged a number of marketing events to celebrate. One of the events was a lavish party in London where this doll was unveiled along with a model (Kate Burt) dressed in the same outfit.

It highlights how the toy industry used contemporary fashion designers as a marketing tool, to show their product was fashionable, cutting edge, and to entice the young and fashionable to purchase their products.
