A photograph of a 15th century carved oak panel and cupboard door. The oak panel is carved in relief with a shield of arms bearing quarterly four fleur-de-lys and surmounted by a crown amid gothic tracery. The cupboard door is also carved in relief with gothic tracery as well as two shields of arms each surmounted by a crown; the first shield bears three fleur-de-lys, the royal arms of France and the second royal arms of France impaled with those of Brittany.

Object history | The objects in this photograph formed part of the collection of Emile Peyre (1824-1904), a notable Parisian collector of French Medieval and Renaissance artefacts. In 1895 the South Kensington Museum (renamed the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1900), bought over 300 pieces of furniture and woodwork (including these objects) from him. |
