A photograph depicting a 16th century group of carved oak figures and a single 16th century carved oak figure. The group of figures consists of St. Catherine of Alexandria who is shown trampling on the Emperor Maximin. The single figure represents St. Mary Magdalene who is depicted kneeling and weeping.

Object history
The objects in this photograph formed part of the collection of Emile Peyre (1824-1904), a notable Parisian collector of French Medieval and Renaissance artefacts. The group of figures consisting of St. Catherine of Alexandria and the Emperor Maximin is now in the National Museum of Ireland (previously the Museum of Science and Art, Dublin) whilst the carved figure of St. Mary Magdalene is now in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum (previously the South Kensington Museum).
