Light

Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This is one of a group of lights made by Mathmos and given to the V&A Museum in 2006. Mathmos frequently commissions designs from progressive young designers, and develops innovative technologies for its products.

The Aduki Ni light is a small, portable and rechargeable light that can be used indoors and outdoors. When off, its appearance is of a sleek, heavy metallic bean. When turned on by a switch on its underside, the light comes alive through a changing spectrum of colours, in this case from blue through to red. The stone-like form fits snugly in the palm of the hand and gives the Aduki Ni an intimate and tactile dimension. An accompanying string enables the light to be hung.
