Mezzotint print of an original pencil sketch with a handwritten caption reading 'Adelphi Theatre', it shows a court scene in which a series of women dressed in legal robes, but with witches hats, are presiding over the trial of an unindentified male figure, possibly Romeo or Hamlet. The jury consists of a series of characters from pantomimes, including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk. The sketch is not dated, circa last quarter of the nineteenth century.

The jury consists of a series of characters from pantomimes, including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk. A sheet of paper visible in the foreground reads 'Indictment, Theatre Royal, Adelphi'.
