This is a rare example of nålbindning, also called single-needle knitting, in an unusual shape. Two heaxagonal pieces in white wool have been stitched together on five sides and appear to have been removed from some other textile. Objects in this technique generally have survived in the form of socks.

This roundel was once part of the Petrie Collection of Egyptian textiles held by the Department of Egyptology at University College London.
