This Order was instituted by King Leopold I as a reward for services rendered to Belgium. It was awarded to John Charles Robinson (1824-1913), curator, scholar and collector, who worked at the V&A in its earliest days and was a very important figure in the formation of the collections.

Physical description | Decoration in the form of a white enamelled silver Maltese Cross against a green enamelled laurel wreath. Central blue and red enamelled medallion shows the Belgian Lion rampant. Inscription. Above the main section is a royal crown from which the Order hangs. Cross, wreath and crown are set with diamonds. |
