It was named as one of the Top 12 toys of the year by the Toy Retailers Association in 2011, and subsequently used in the Museum of Childhood's War Games exhibition in 2013.

Boxed Nerf Vortex Nitron Blaster, made in China by Hasbro, 2011
Physical description
The gun is made from grey, green and orange plastic. It comes with a removable grey electronic scope, and removable orange magazine. The magazine can be filled with green foam discs, which are then shot out of the gun. The body of the toy features two handles and a curved butt, used to steady the aim.

The packaging and instruction booklet follow the same colour scheme as the gun itself. The cardboard box has a photo of a man holding the gun on a dark grey background. The back of the box has a numbered diagram of the different parts of the gun.
